The Queens Golden Jubilee Celebrations

 

The Jubilee party in Lighthorne Village was a great success with approximately 250 villagers and friends attending.  All enjoyed a superb barbecue with cakes and jelly to follow, and all washed down with a Tireless Tea Ladies on Dutycup of tea, coffee, cordial, or something stronger from the Antelope.

 

A programme of events followed, the first of which was a children's crown contest won by 5 year old Zoe Young.                   The Grand Judging of the Jubilee Crown Competition.

Other events included camel racing,Camel Racing along Church Lane children's novelty races, ferret racing, pony rides and fiercely contested events such as the adult passenger wheelbarrow steeplechase along Church Lane. The proceedings came to a grand finale with a conga round the green.

 

The committee would like to thank Lighthorne Herbs and The Antelope for their support, as well as the volunteers giving practical help and assistance on the day.
 

We are delighted to be able to donate from the proceeds the sum of £253.20 to Myton Hospice.
